RCU second-year Graphic Design student, Nick Wang was the successful candidate for the position of Graphic Design intern with Public Relations at Shangri-La (Changchun) Hotel. Nick’s ability in English and his design skills helped him win the position after an interview lasting an hour and a half. He will have the opportunity to be hired as a full-time employee after three months.
Visual Communication Director, Alex Antonicelli said that if Shangri-La Hotel hired Nick as formal employee at the end of the internship, he would use the popular internet as a way to teach Nick while he is working. This would let Nick complete the remainder of his courses, but keep his job.
Nick’s parents are also very pleased and said they are grateful for the training and the recommendation, which Raffles International College provided to him. Nick also felt glad. He did say he felt the responsibility and pressure to do good work. After the interview last Friday, he has accepted his first design task, to create a poster for the coming Children’s Day. Already, his draft is recognized and praised as good work.
That the Shangri-La (Changchun) Hotel requested only RCU students for the position of designer proved that our international teaching method has been recognized by foreign-funded enterprises. Foreign-funded enterprises have been the first to recruit second-year students from our current students, who have not yet graduated,
In addition to Shangri-La (Changchun) Hotel, last week ThyssenKrupp Tailored Blanks Laser (Changchun) Co., Ltd also request second-year Business Administration students as part time trainees. Leo Sheng, Becky Wang and Vicky Wei have started their training, with Leo in the sales department, Becky in logistics and Vicky in human resources.
